Haunted New York House

I want to share the story of our house. Leigh, the kids and I moved into this house in Port Jervis, NY about three years ago. When we were shown the house by the land lord, we fell in love with it. As the tour was ending, we asked the tennant that was still living in it some questions about the house, and this is her response, the place is haunted! Leigh and I thought she was kidding, like unveiling a ploy to try and deter us from renting the house, but soon enough we would find out.

When we moved in, we didn't have much things only probably 3 mid sized pick up trucks full, but that was enough, we wanted to get new stuff so that was fine.

The second week of us being here, we all experienced the first ghost. All of us were in the dining room playing a game of scatagories when we heard a crash from the hall way,it was so loud that all of us ran into the hall, but there was nothing there. It sounded like a person dropped out of the sky, (yes I know what a person sounds like falling and hitting the ground, I experienced it first hand, as I fell 12 ft. down a shaft, hitting the bottom!, ouch!) and hit the floor so hard, it knocked pictures down off the wall, but there was nothing at all there. We thought maybe it came from upstairs, so we investigated, still nothing. As the months went on, it happened on the same day every month, the 23rd so we got used to it, but also as the months went on, we started to notice things not ordinary.

One time my wife, Leigh put an ashtray down on the table in the dining room from the end tables in the living room to clean them and when she turned around, they were back on the tables, we also started to see a shadowy figure lurking around in the basement and main living quarters, this brings us to believe there is two ghosts in our home. One is a residual, the other is inteligent.

We have been doing research on our house. We found out that our home used to be part of the undergound railroad, and a man in his twenties hung himself, right in our hallway stair case! We believe the man who hung himself is the residual one, being that's the one that is making noise around the same time every month, and the intelligent one has done things ranging from grabbing broom handles to almost braking glass by hitting dishes left out for Thanksgiving. Anyway, just thought I'd share a little bit of the haunting in our house, and to say your web page is da bomb! keep hunting!
