Ouija Board

When I was 12 years old I made a candle as an art project in class using crayons that we melted down during the art class. During the summer my friend introduced me to joys of playing with a Ouija board. It was pretty amusing, we would light my candle and ask it questions. It would move to spell out the answer. Well my friend George and I swear that neither one of us was pushing the Ouija to the answers. Although we would accuse each other and laugh about it. I know I wasn't moving it.

We would play with thing almost every day. We would ask the usual question like, "Is anyone there?", "Can you tell us your name?" It was fun being spooked by it.

One day we decided to "put it to the test". We ask if anyone was there and the Ouija spelled D-A-R-R-E-N. Laughing at ourselves we asked where this Darren was from in which "he" reply, H-E-L-L.
Okay, so now where cracking up and telling each other to stop clowing around. Of course neither one of us seems to be pushing the ouija. We began to ask it each personal questions, ones to that only we would know the answer. We would ask and wait to see the answer before revealing it to each other. I mean if the Quija couldn't answer my question then my friend would definitely be the one moving the Ouija for sure and visa versa.

The crazy thing was that it was answering our questions correctly! We were both pretty nervous at this point. Being young we didn't have the common sense to stop. We decided the we need proof. If this was real. We were starting to freak each other out. So, finally we ask it to, "Give us a sign and prove to us your real." A light breeze blew in from the window and the flame on the candle flickered. Spooked for a second we began laughing at each other. We noticed the flame continued to flicker even after the breeze stopped. Then the flame "flared up" slighty and came back down. Then the flame flared again and remained tall. The heat was causing the candle to melt. We tried to blow out the candle but it would go out! Suddenly the wax itself began to burn! Freaking out at this point I poured my juice over the candle an still it would not go out. I opened my window and my friend picked up the candle by the saucer it was on and threw it out the window into my backyard. That damn thing burned for another couple of minutes before going out on it's own!!

I told my mom how we almost burned up my room. Told her we were playing with the Quija. Well mom freaked out! Being the religious women that she is did the sign of the cross and called my aunt on the phone. She confiscated the Quija board and about an hour later, here come my aunt.... holy water in hand. She scolded George and I and told us to never play with anything like this again. She said a ouija board can be an opening (like a portal) for evil spirits to enter our world. OOps! What do I know I was 12 trying to have fun with my best fiend.

The other weird thing was that my aunt took the board to the backyard and scrapped the wax of the saucer. She placed it on the board, poured the holy water over them while saying a prayer (I assume). Lit a match and threw on the items and it started to burn! There was no visable flame and yet you can see the smoke rising from it! As far as I know holy water isn't flammable.

Ever since then I've never gone near a Ouija board again.
